Research Goal

photo-2I am a molecular biologist with a special interest in mitochondrial evolutionary genetics. Mitochondria are inevitably linked to physical performance, health and survival. Despite this significance, our current understanding of mitochondrial biology and genetics often struggles to pinpoint mechanisms through which mitochondria exert this influence.  The goal of my research is to provide detailed understanding of the factors underpinning the mitochondrial genotype-phenotype linkage, and to unravel the role of mitochondrial genome variation in contexts of Ecology, Evolution and Health.
